Update 17 November: Now even cheaper than last time. All three colors are available.
Opinion after one week of using it:
- superb screen, nice size
- 5G works great on Sunrise (almost 600Mbps)
- Motorola Ready For (desktop mode) is not very useful because of the wireless connection latency to the TV (Wi-Fi Direct)
- the provided case is very slippery
- the charging is very fast, but I saw maximum 65W of the advertised 68W and only when the battery was at 10-15%. Most of the time is charging at 20-50W
- on Wi-Fi and with 60 minutes of daily usage, the battery is good for over 4 days. During intense use with 5G hot spot active the battery drains in ~10h
==========================================================
Good mid-range smartphone with 144Hz curved OLED screen, 5000 mAh battery, wireless desktop mode (Ready For).
Available in “Black Beauty” and “Soothing Sea” colors.
It has a generous amount of RAM (12GB) and storage (256GB).
Includes protective case and very fast charger (68W) for 15 minutes charging time from 0 to 50%.
It meets the IP68 standard for water and dust ingress.
CPU: MediaTek Dimensity 7030
The camera is good, but not on the same level as the Pixel 7a. It films at a resolution of up to 4K/30fps.
Motorola guarantees two Android updates (it comes with Android 13) and three years of security updates (September 2026). The operating system is almost a standard Android.
Dual SIM: 1 x eSIM + 1 nano SIM
The introductory price was CHF 399. The current price is by far the lowest that was available at the time. The previous lowest price (CHF 300) was during Amazon’s Prime Day.
In Switzerland it costs at least CHF 348.85.

Negatives:
– only USB 2.0 (“Ready For” only works wirelessly). Edge 30 neo has USB 3.0.
– the processor could be faster
– the “Caneel Bay” color is sold out
– the software updates could be offered longer, like Samsung or Google
– it is larger and heavier than the Edge 30 neo
– no wireless charging (the Edge 30 neo had that)
– no SD card slot for expansion (but 256 GB of storage should be enough)
